2007 GBA TOURNAMENT RULES

All High School rules are in effect at all levels with the following points of emphasis or exceptions:
No zone defense for 5th-6th grade boys and girls levels
- The 4 minute playing rule at the 5th-6th grade level is in effect. This means each player must play at least 4 consecutive minutes (and sit 4 consecutive minutes) in each half. If this rule is not followed, technical fouls will be assessed. Game may
- 3 point shots at 7th grade level and above (no 3 point shots at 5th-6th or 3rd-4th)
- No playing minimum at 7th-8th grade level.
- Halftimes will be 3 minutes long.
- 4 Time outs per game.... NO 20 second timeouts.
- at 5th-6th grade level, pressing in the backcourt is allowed only in the last minute of each half (and last minute of overtime, if applicable).
- Teams not ready to play at scheduled game times will forfeit
- Teams are to provide scorebook and time keepers.
- 7/8 Teams can play any type of defense (ie., teams are not restricted to Man to Man)

Overtime periods will be 3 minutes in duration.

5th-6th grade teams must have a minimum of 7 players or the opposing coach has the
option of accepting a forfeit.

If a player or coach is ejected, he will be either suspended from the next two tourney games or the tournament depending upon the incident.

Coaches are responsible for actions of their players and fans. Referees may ask the coach to intercede with unruly players or fans; if unable or unwilling, team may forfeit.

Poor sportsmanship from the bench area will not be tolerated. The head coach shall be the only voice from the bench. Technical fouls will be assessed immediately for bench personnel that do not display appropriate sportsmanship.

Games to be kept as close to on time as possible. This may mean minimal warm-up time.

Tie-breaker System
Points will be accumulated for each game based on score differential. Each team will receive plus (or minus) 10 points per game (ie., if score differential is greater than 10, team receives 10 points).
Tie-breaker is applied in the following order:
1) Head to head game result(s)
2) Points accumulated

The tie-breaker system will be used to determine bracket winners or the teams that will advance to the championship game in brackets.

3rd/4th grade RULES:

The Intermediate basketball (27.0) should be used for all games.

Defense:
- Man-to-man only (no zone defense); Can only double in lane; Help defense only when man has broken past defender
- Defense can pick up at the three point line or hash mark if available
- 3-point line defense only if your team leads by >15 points
- Full court press allowed last minute of game
- Team has 12 seconds to break the defensive zone when bringing the ball upcourt. Failure will result in a turnover.
- When ball is passed out of 3 point area or hash mark, offensive team has 5 seconds to re-enter the ball into the offensive area. Failure will result in a turnover.

All field goals are worth 2 points (no 3-point shots)

Playing time: 4- 8 minute quarters
- 4-minute rule will be in effect (as stated above per 5th-6th rules)
- Substitutions only allowed at start of quarter and with 4 minutes left in the quarter
Failing to comply with this rule may result in game forfeiture.

Coaches are allowed under offensive basket if desired

school, behind the construction work

Greece Arcadia Middle School and High School
130 Island Cottage Road

· 390 North to Latta Road
· Right on Latta then immediately get in left lane. · Left at next light on to Island Cottage
· Greece Arcadia High School will be the first entrance on the right
· Greece Arcadia MS will be the second entrance on the right


Greece LongRidge Elementary School
190 Longridge Avenue

· 390N to Vintage Lane
· Go east on Vintage Lane past Mt Read to Longridge Avenue
· Right onto Longridge…school will be at end of road
