Sportsmanship is paramount to the success of the tourney. Poor sportsmanship by players, coaches, or fans will not be tolerated. Coaches are responsible for the behavior of their players and fans. Referees may ask the coach to intercede with unruly players or fans. If unable or unwilling, the team may forfeit.
Game Rules
- High School rules in effect at all levels with the following points of emphasis or exceptions.
- Running clock will be used in the 4th quarter anytime the score exceeds 20 points.
Ball Size:
- Boys’ 7th–9th: High School Boys
- Girls’ 5th–9th, Boys 5th–6th: High School Girls (28.5)
- Boys and Girls 3rd–4th: Intermediate (27.0)
Game Protocol
- Home Team provides clock operator.
- Both Teams provide a score book.
- Warm-up time will be 3 minutes.
- Half Time will be 3 minutes.
- Overtime will be 2 minutes (or next point if tied after 2 minutes)
- Timeouts: 3 total, Max 2 in a half, 1 TO in OT (no carry over)
- Scores recorded on website by winning team (day of game)
Late Arriving Teams
- games will still play in time block
- 1 hour cap from original start time
Running Clock (by host site supervisor)
- If curfew gym times are close to being exceeded
- If game is running excessively long
Playing Time Rules
- 7th/9th Grade: No restrictions
- 5th/6th Grade:
- 7 player min: Must play at least 4 consecutive minutes (and sit 4 consecutive minutes) in each half.
- Substitutes occur at 4-minute mark ONLY during first THREE quarters (Open subbing 4th/OT)
- 3rd/4th Grade:
- Each player must play at least 4 consecutive minutes (and sit 4 consecutive minutes) in each half.

*Violations of these rules are not followed, technical fouls will be assessed, or forfeits awarded if flagrant.*
Game Rules
Technical Fouls: The opposing teams automatically receive two points and the ball.
- Zone Defense violations will be 1 team warning, 2nd+ violation will be 2 points + ball
Ejections: Player or coach will be suspended the rest of that day PLUS all games the following weekend.
Spectators: Coaches are responsible for the actions of players and fans. Referees will ask the coach to intercede with unruly players or fans; if unable or unwilling within 1 minute, the team will forfeit.
Coaches:
- The head coach will be the ONLY person permitted to stand.
- Teams will be limited to 1 Asst Coach on the bench (who MUST remain seated – no Referee communication).
- Technical fouls will be assessed immediately for bench personnel that do not display appropriate sportsmanship.
5th/6th Grade RULES:
- No 3-point Field Goals counted.
- Man-to-man only (no zone); Can only double in lane; Help defense only when man has broken past defender.
- Pressing is only allowed in the last two minutes (2:00) of the game ONLY.
3rd/4th Grade RULES:
- No 3-point Field Goals counted. Made 3-pointers will be a dead ball turn over. All field goals are worth 2 points.
- Exception: The last 5 seconds of each quarter & last minute of game shots outside line will count at 2 points.
- Man-to-man only (no zone); Can only double in lane; Help defense only when man has broken past defender.
- Defense can pick up at the three-point line or hash mark if available.
- 3-point line defense only if your team leads by >15 points.
- Full court press allowed the last minute of game ONLY.
- Team has 15 seconds to break the 3-point line / hash when bringing the ball up court. Failure will result in a TO.
- When ball is passed out of 3-point area, offensive team has 7 seconds to re-enter the ball into the offensive area.
